How can educators ensure equity as they implement the Common Core State Standards?
All students have equitable opportunities and outcomes. If we want all students to achieve at higher levels, we must equip teachers, parents, and students to rise to the challenges presented by the increased rigor of the Common Core State Standards.
Implementing the Common Core must:
- Prepare parents to understand what is different about them and how they can support their children
- Provide extensive supports for teachers to effectively teach every student
- Encourage students to take responsibility for their learning
In this archived webinar, Rose Owens-West, Director of the Region IX Equity Assistance Center at WestEd, addresses the importance of attending to the needs of parents, teachers, and students to ensure the success of every student as we implement the Common Core.
