Time: 10:00 a.m.–11:30 a.m.
Location: CC/Arch/Arch-Hall 4B
Presenter: Ross Adams
Description for Virtual and In-Person Sessions:
Early intervention (EI) teams function within a variety of models: multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary. The practices of transdisciplinary teams most closely parallel the characteristics of interprofessional practice (IPP) teams. What are the similarities and differences? How can transdisciplinary EI teams embrace the IPP standards and characteristics described by WHO, ASHA, and others? How do parents “fit in” as active, contributing members of these teams?
In this poster session, explore these questions and more and learn about parents’ roles as the primary agents of change concerning the development of their young children. A preliminary checklist is being developed and will be shared as a part of this presentation.
Learning Outcomes:
- Identify similarities and differences between transdisciplinary interprofessional practice EI teams
- Prioritize the ongoing active participation of families/parents in all aspects of EI evaluation, assessment, service delivery, and transition
- Hypothesize strategies that can be implemented to incorporate the best of both worlds in transdisciplinary and interprofessional practice teaming
