Session: Organizational Performance Frameworks: Quality and Compliance
Time: 9:30am – 10:30am CT
Presenters: David Greenberg (NACSA), Aimee Evan (WestEd), Jess Saven Barton (Washington State Charter School Commission), and Michele Gray (DC Public Charter Schools)
Grounding in NACSA’s 2023 Guide to Performance Frameworks and WestEd’s Indicators of Distress research, this session will explore how two authorizers—the District of Columbia Public Charter School Board and the Washington State Charter School Commission—are thinking about incorporating an organizational effectiveness lens in review and renewal decisions and making updates to their Organizational Performance Framework.
Session: Performance Frameworks and Special Education: Compliance AND Quality
Time: 3:00pm – 4:00pm CT
Presenters: Jamie Garwood (Ball State University), Aylin Bell (WestEd), and Aimee Evan (WestEd)
As key figures overseeing the quality of education, authorizers are crucial in ensuring schools provide exceptional services to all students. This session is an opportunity to assess our performance frameworks, ensuring that every student, especially those with disabilities, receives the highest quality of education. We will share a national scan of special education indicators within performance frameworks, assessing how authorizers use these frameworks to conduct oversight of services for students with disabilities and discuss innovative approaches that move beyond compliance.
