Families, educators, researchers, policymakers, and the public may need visibility across the entire journey from early childhood into the workforce and beyond to develop policy, provide equitable resources, and improve outcomes. Unfortunately, the data integration needed to combine information varies across states and sectors.
The Data Integration Support Center (DISC) at WestEd helps public agencies address those challenges and support equity. DISC provides comprehensive technical assistance relative to four support pillars:
- Planning and User-Centered Design
- Legislative Analysis
- External Legal Supports
- System Security
- Privacy
Over time, DISC aims to build confidence in state data integration efforts, modernize and align federal privacy laws and guidance across the sectors so that states can choose how they integrate all necessary data, and develop systems by which states are able to integrate data while protecting privacy, building transparency, and ensuring security.
