Martha Castellón Palacios is a Senior Program Associate on the English Learner and Migrant Education Services team at WestEd. She conducts reviews of English Learner programs, policies, and practices in schools and districts and provides technical assistance to districts working to improve educational outcomes for English Learners. With expertise in second language acquisition teaching and research, creating educational equity for English Learners has been her lifelong passion.
Prior to her work at WestEd, she served as Equity Coordinator for the Palo Alto Unified School District, as Executive Director for Understanding Language at Stanford University, and as the Director of the Stanford Online CTEL/CLAD Program. She began her career as a bilingual elementary school teacher in Long Beach, CA.
Palacios holds an AB in English from Stanford University; an MA in Teaching English as a Second Language from University of California, Los Angeles; and a PhD in Educational Linguistics from Stanford University.
