Lauren N. Wong, Ph.D., is a Research Associate II with WestEd’s Special Education Policy and Practice Learner Variability and Research team. She brings experience and growing expertise in quantitative methods and analysis, including multi-level modeling, structural equation modeling, and propensity score analysis. She has extensive experience cleaning and analyzing large-scale state longitudinal data, designing and conducting large-scale survey studies, and project management. Wong also has experience with policy analysis and program evaluation.
She is currently a principal investigator and project manager of two national survey studies in partnership with the National Center for Learning Disabilities. In this role, Dr. Wong has developed survey protocols, recruited participants, administered surveys, and will conduct data analyses, culminating in two final survey reports. Additionally, she has written and contributed to numerous quarterly, annual, and final evaluation reports as well as engaged in extensive relationship building with WestEd clients and partners.
As a former general and special education teacher, she utilized academic interventions to meet the needs of all students and identify students with learning disabilities using a response to intervention framework. Her research interests include the implementation of response to intervention, identification of students with learning disabilities and the experiences of students with disabilities, and disproportionate overrepresentation of racial and ethnic groups in special education
