Kim Austin is a Senior Program Associate in WestEd’s Research-Practice Partnerships team. She works with the Regional Educational Laboratories (RELs) developing research-based toolkits that support educators to improve their practice.
A qualitative researcher by training, Austin has experience in coaching, evaluation, dissemination, producing video content, and developing online professional learning. She was the Director of Dissemination for REL West and managed research, dissemination, and online instruction for a project focused on supporting English learner instruction, funded by the federal Investing in Innovation (i3) Fund. She also develops content for and oversees the Doing What Works research-to-practice library. She is the author of a book on student-centered teaching, titled Small Shifts: Cultivating a Practice of Student-Centered Teaching. Austin also co-authored professional learning resources: Facilitating Improvement in Teacher Practice.
Austin received an MEd from Harvard University, concentrating on human development and psychology, and a PhD in educational psychology from Stanford University.
