Katie Drummond serves as the Director of Regional Educational Lab (REL) Northwest and brings over 20 years of experience in education research, research-based technical assistance, and practitioner partnerships designed to improve learner outcomes, especially for underserved populations.
Based in Oregon, Drummond has worked on projects related to literacy, early childhood education, special education, and educator professional learning. She has designed and directed initiatives that involve collaboration with partners at the local, state, and federal levels. Drummond has also served as principal investigator or project director for randomized controlled trials of literacy and preschool interventions for projects funded by the Institute of Education Sciences. She has also worked with states on technical assistance in the areas of literacy, special education, and transition to postsecondary education.
Drummond obtained her Ph.D. in educational psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles. She began her career in education as a special education teacher.
