Jahneille Cunningham is an Improvement Specialist who is committed to supporting educators seeking sustainable change and equitable learning environments for all learners, especially those from historically marginalized communities. As a member of the Improvement Science Team, her work focuses on systems transformation as it relates to diversifying the teacher workforce, enacting culturally relevant mathematics teaching and learning, and community-based parent engagement.
Before joining WestEd, she was a Postdoctoral Researcher working with pre-service math and science teachers through Center X at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Consultant supporting educational institutions seeking organizational change.
Cunningham co-led a team that received a WestEd Strategic Investment Grant to design a practical measurement toolkit to support Culturally Responsive and Sustaining Education (CRSE) in mathematics classrooms. The toolkit will support educators’ efforts to implement CRSE in mathematics classrooms through measurement, reflection, and adjustment of classroom practice.
Cunningham has a PhD in education from UCLA and a BA in sociology from the University of Miami.
