Irisa Charney-Sirott is the Director of Professional Learning in Literacy at WestEd. In this capacity, she designs and facilitates face-to-face and digital Reading Apprenticeship professional learning.
Charney-Sirott collaborates with school and district leaders to assess their literacy needs and plan for implementation of Reading Apprenticeship services. Additionally, Charney-Sirott supports and trains the national cadre of Reading Apprenticeship facilitators who deliver face-to-face and blended learning in schools across the country. Charney-Sirott also works with the Strategic Literacy Initiative’s research team conducting classroom-based research and observations, as well as designing formative assessment opportunities and analyzing data.
Charney-Sirott started her Reading Apprenticeship journey in 2001 as a middle school teacher in Oakland. She earned a BA from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.
