Stronger Education Systems to Advance Equity
State education systems play a significant role in closing equity gaps, aligning education systems, and improving student academic journeys and outcomes. They also have a meaningful and important role in communicating with local educational agencies and broader system partners.
We partner with state education agencies to develop tools that show students how career and workforce preparation offerings align with college programs and the labor market. Our team also facilitates strategic conversations and plans (i.e., Perkins, etc.) with system partners to promote consideration of a comprehensive approach to educational challenges and to leverage best practice research to inform educators and practitioners.
A key outcome of our work is stronger education systems that reduce inequities and help students move successfully forward on their journeys to living-wage jobs.
K-14 Career Pathway Mapping
We conducted a statewide study of K–14 career pathway programs in Nevada as part of the state’s Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment for Perkins career and technical education funding. Our final report compared enrollment in high school career programs with college pathways and state and regional labor markets.
In addition, WestEd led regional planning sessions with educators across the state to help inform stronger intersegmental pathways to employment.
